Congratulations South Carolina Gamecocks!

South Carolina Gamecock Baseball Team
2010 NCAA National Champs

A belated congratulations to the University of South Carolina Gamecocks baseball team for winning the 2010 NCAA College Baseball National Championship in Omaha, Nebraska.  I wanted to write this blog on June 30th, the day after the team won the title by defeating UCLA at 11:57 p.m. on June 29th.  But, due to really busy real estate work and then the 4th of July holiday period, I missed writing my Gamecock blog.   Today, I was reminded by a friend in Columbia that a follower of my blog and a BIG Gamecock fan in Charlotte was disappointed that I failed to mention the huge Gamecock accomplishment in my blog.  (Thanks AJ!)

I have been a Gamecock fan for many years.  This was a huge accomplishment for the Gamecock baseball team and for all Gamecock fans.

After losing the first game at the College World Series, the Gamecocks were in the loser's bracket and were faced with having to win four straight against the nation's top teams to make it to the Championship bracket.  They did this and more!  After losing to Oklahoma in the first game, they won four successive games against Arizona State, Oklahoma and Clemson (twice).  The won close games, they won games with timely hitting and games with great pitching.  Then, in the championship bracket, the Gamecocks beat UCLA twice to win the NCAA National Championship for 2010.  Congratulations to Coach Ray Tanner and the Gamecock baseball team.
